Want to travel to the nearby island of Monserrat, fly over an inactive volcano and see the devastating force of nature? We’re pleased to be working with Jenny Tours who will arrange daily tours to Montserrat, by air or by ferry. Located 27 miles South West of Antigua, it is also known as the ‘Emerald Isle of the Caribbean and boasts unspoiled lush tropical forests, black sand beaches and serenity. But in 1995 that peace was interrupted when the previously dormant Soufrière Hills volcano, in the southern part of the island, became active. Eruptions would eventually force two-thirds of the island’s population was forced to flee, and its capital city of Plymouth to be largely destroyed. You’ll visit Plymouth and areas touched by the volcano’s power. You’ll also see the new town of Little Bay, have lunch and return to Antigua, or Jenny Tours can arrange an overnight stay.
